Northwest Drivers Decrease Gas Use

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. -- According to a recent report, drivers in the Northwest are outpacing the rest of the country when it comes to cutting back on gas use.

Experts at the Sightline Institute say drivers in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho cut back on their gas consumption by 11% from 1999 to 2007.

Ten years ago, drivers in the Northwest used more gas per person than the national average.

Despite the improvements, Northwest drivers still use twice as much gas as the global average for high-income nations.
