House Set on Fire Twice in 24 Hours

SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- The Sunnyside Police Department is investigating after a vacant house was set on fire twice within 24 hours.

At about 2:30 Sunday morning, crews were called to a house fire on Hilzer Avenue and limited the damage to a bedroom and part of the attic.

Officials from the Sunnyside Fire Department say someone came back to finish the job. At about 1:30 Monday morning, the house was on fire again and was completely destroyed.

Investigators suspect gang activity after finding graffiti taggings inside and outside the property. The home was condemned and listed as a substandard property. The damage is estimated at $60,000.

If you have any information on the fires, you are encouraged to call Sunnyside police at (509) 837-2120.
