SEATTLE, Wash. -- Earthquake and Tsunami experts will gather in Seattle on Tuesday for the National Earthquake Conference.
Those attending the conference will hear from experts from Sri Lanka and Thailand, who got a first hand look at the damage from the catastrophic tsunami that struck there in 2004.
The experts will also take a field trip to see damage done by an offshore earthquake in the year 1700. The quake created tsunami waves from Canada to California and sank ships in Japan.
Washington, as well as Alaska, California, and Oregon are at an increased risk for earthquakes because of their location on the "Ring of Fire".
