"Tax Increase" Lawsuit Will Continue

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- State Supreme Court Commissioners have agreed to consider a lawsuit claiming the state's constitution is being violated.

Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown is challenging initiatives that would require supermajority approval of tax increases.

Voters previously approved a two-thirds supermajority vote, but Brown says that violates the simple majority threshold written in the constitution.

She launched the lawsuit after the Senate could not get the required two-thirds vote for a tax increase on liquor during this year's legislative session.
