KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Simple maintenance under your car's hood can help you get more miles for your money.
A local car repair shop says keeping your car in good condition can help reduce what you're paying at the pump. They suggest keeping your tires inflated properly, and cleaning out your air filter regularly.
But they also say it's not just about maintenance, but being safe on the road can also help.
"How you drive is probably the biggest thing, if you're going to accelerate you're burning a lot of fuel, if you're running to a stop sign you're burning a lot of fuel," said Todd Myers, from Myers Auto Tech.
So there's some advice to keep in mind while you're on the road. Some other tips to improve your gas mileage include checking dirty spark plugs in your car.
They can easily waste fuel if they're not cleaned properly.
