SEATTLE, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks have released former league MVP running back Shaun Alexander. Seahawks president Tim Ruskell says that Alexander was released unconditionally after passing a physical. The 30-year old running back was scheduled to earn just under four and a half million dollars in the 2008 season. Alexander has had two injury-filled and ineffective seasons since signing a 62 million dollar contract. In 13 games last season, he ran for just 716 yards. It was his lowest total since 2001. He was NFL MVP in 2005.
