KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Organizers at the Sexual Assault Response Center were celebrating Friday night. An online auction that started at the beginning of April raised over $11,000 for kids who are victims of sexual assault.
From get-a-ways at Mount Baker to dinners for two, people shelled out thousands of dollars to help out a good cause.
SARC Executive Directore JoDee Garretson says she is proud of the community's response. She says, "One of the things that is really heartwarming is that some items were going for higher than their value. You can tell people are bidding for the kids. That is wonderful."
Last year, the auction raised about $10,000 so organizers are calling this year's event a big success.
