PULLMAN, Wash. - Record-setting Washington State University quarterback Alex Brink was selected in the 7th-round of the NFL Draft by the Houston Texans Sunday, with the 223rd overall pick. Brink is the first player from a local university to be taken in the draft.
The senior from Eugene, Oregon completed his collegiate career as the Cougars' all-time leader in touchdown passes (76) and passing yards (10,193). Brink threw for 3,818 yards and 26 touchdowns during his senior season in 2007.
Matt Schaub is the current starting quarterback for the Texans. Brink will compete for a roster spot with the likes of Sage Rosenfels, Quinn Gray and Shane Boyd.
