OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - The State Patrol reports a man was arrested after driving the wrong way up Interstate 5 and hitting another vehicle, seriously injuring the other driver.
Troopers say they received reports at 4:12 a.m. on Sunday of a 1998 Mercury Mystique heading north in the southbound lanes of I-15 near Olympia.
The State Patrol says it arrested 20-year-old Thor Aksdal, of Yelm, on suspicion of vehicular assault and for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol.
A 22-year-old Shelton man's 1998 Chevy Tracker was involved in the accident. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Aksdal also was injured in the crash.
Three lanes of I-5 were closed for three hours after the crash.
