Richland Bombers Swinging Their Way to State

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash - Richland Bomber baseball, their bats are so hot right now!

"I definitely think we are a better hitting team this year than last year," says senior left fielder Houston Castillo.  And the defending state champions are putting up the numbers to prove it.  In 14 games Richland has lit up the scoreboard, crossing the plate 174 times!  Their defense is also solid again this year.  As of today Richland has only allowed 45 runs.

It's a complete team again for Richland who always seems to reload and never rebuild.  "We are always going to be a strong program and we will compete for a state title every year," says junior slugger Brett Jacobs.

However with that notariety comes intense expectations.  Right now Richland is the top-ranked 4A team in the state and has them ranked as the 21st team in the nation!  Speedy senior Marcelino Morales was a part of last year's state championship team and thinks this year's team should accomplish nothing less.   "It would be a bummer if we didn't make it to state.  Especially for the seniors on the team because we know what kind of talent we have.  We would be pretty disappointed if we didn't make another appearance at Safeco Field."
