Reward Offered for Information on 'Evans' Fire

TIETON, Wash. -- Federal investigators have determined that Thursday's fire at the Evans Fruit Company warehouse was arson. Now they are offering $15,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, and Tobacco teamed up with the Yakima Fire Marshal, as well as the Tieton Fire and Police Departments in their investigation. The ruling partially confirms the suspicions of owner Bill Evans, who stated that he believed disgruntled employees were responsible for setting the fire.

The damage to the warehouse was originally estimated at $1 million, but the estimate has since jumped to about $5 million.

If you have any information, the A.T.F. Toll-Free Hotline is 1-800-ATF-FIRE. You can also call the Yakima County Tip Line at (509) 574-2278.
