Lourdes Health Network Holds Memorial For Pre-Term Babies

PASCO, Wash. - The loss of a child can be extremely difficult, even if the baby hasn't been born.

That's why Lourdes Health Network held a memorial for families affected by miscarriages.

Leaders say a pre-term baby can not be buried in a regular cemetery if a preterm baby dies within 20 weeks of the pregnancy.

The memorial was set up to give people a place to come and grieve.  Every year it's held at the City View Cemetery in Pasco.

People sent balloons off into the sky as a way to honor the ones that they've lost.

Lourdes Medical Center Chaplin Mary Houston said, "Every loss and every grief is important and sometimes this is something that people will say oh you will have another one. It's not that important, but it is important. "

The event is called the annual Our Little Angels Memorial.

The garden was created by Lourdes Health Network.

The memorial is open to everyone.
