YAKIMA, Wash. -- Leaders of "Circle of Success" were in Yakima today to promote their early literacy program.
Guest speakers were brought in from the University of Washington's Institute for Learning and Brain Sciences. They are aiming to get parents to start reading to their children at a very early age.
Their new studies show that this helps dramatically increase literacy rates in children.
"This is cutting edge information, we believe, and the more educated parents are the better parents they can be for their children," said Kimberley Pualani of Circle of Success.
They're hoping to host more conferences like the one held today to help get the message out to more parents.
