Veteran's Meeting on Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash. -- A veteran's town hall meeting will draw representatives from some of the top politicians in the state.

The "First Mike", Mike Gregoire  will be there from the governor's office along with a rep from Senator Patty Murray , and Veteran's Affairs leaders.

One of the ideas that will be discussed is a new vet center. Vietnam-era Vet Steve Prince and Gulf War Vet Hayes Griffith says one of the places the VA is looking at is the Pfc. Daniel L. Wagenaar Center in Pasco.

Veterans groups are putting in bids for the space, which Prince says is pretty much empty. The Center would allow most veteran's services to be provided in one place.

Griffith says, "Let's face it the effort [our troops] are putting out is a tremendous effort and this is a way the community can get involved, what they can do, where they can put their bucks toward this."

The meeting to discuss a new vet center as well as to answer veteran's questions is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6th at the Pasco Senior Center. A networking lunch and town hall runs from 11:30 to 1:30 and an information fair runs from 1:30 to 5.
