"Cowboy" Mike Braae on Trial Again

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- A rape and murder trial for "Cowboy" Mike Braae, who once faced attempted murder charges in Yakima, is set to begin Monday in Olympia.

Braae is accused of strangling Lori Jones, 44, of Lacey, in July 2001.

In 2006, Braae stood trial in Yakima for the attempted murder of Marchelle Morgan. She was shot in the head and left on the side of the road in Union Gap. Morgan survived, but could not testify because of brain injuries she sustained from the shooting.

Braae was not convicted, as the jury could not reach a unanimous decision and the case was declared a mistrial.

Mike Braae is already serving an assault sentence in Idaho, where he was arrested in July 2001.
