SPOKANE, Wash. --  Central Washington University senior first baseman Mallory Holtman (White Salmon, Wash./Columbia HS) has been named the 2008 Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Year for softball, the conference announced on Monday.

Holtman, the first four-time first team all-conference selection in the history of the GNAC, batted a career-best .397 as a senior with 13 doubles, six triples, 10 home runs, and 31 runs batted in. Her total for triples, total bases (109), and slugging percentage (.801) were all single-season school records and all led the conference.

Joining Holtman as first team all-GNAC selections were senior outfielder Kasey Druffel (Colton, Wash.) and junior catcher Holly Rossman (Olympia, Wash./Black Hills HS).

Druffel earned all-conference accolades for the second straight season, batting .355 with a team-leading 55 hits. Rossman, meanwhile, led the Wildcats with 37 RBI while ranking second to Holtman in home runs with nine. She batted .385 and caught all but seven innings behind the plate in 2008.

Also receiving all-conference recognition from Central Washington were second-team outfielder Ashley Fix (Puyallup, Wash.) and honorable mention selections Linse Vlahovich (pitcher, Spokane Valley, Wash./University HS) and Logan Mohr (third base, Bainbridge Island, Wash./Bainbridge HS).

Other specialty award winners from the GNAC this season included co-Pitchers of the Year Erin Martin from Seattle University and Katie Fleer from Western Oregon. Fleer was also the league's Newcomer of the Year, while Kelly Parsons of Montana State Billings received honors as the Freshman of the Year. Western Oregon's Pam Knox was named GNAC Coach of the Year.

Central Washington finished the 2008 season with a 17-27 overall record and fourth in the conference standings with a 12-12 league mark. The Wildcats lose just three seniors -- Holtman, Druffel, and Mohr -- from this year's squad.
