KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Law enforcement agencies in the Tri-Cities are coming together to honor those who put their lives at risk for the safety of others.
Police officers and their families will come together this Saturday, May 10th to remember officers who lost their lives or were seriously injured in the line of duty.
For many years now May 15th. has been named National Peace Officer's Memorial Day. Kennewick police say last year 57 peace officers were killed on the job. That's up from 48 in 2006.
"It's kind of in the back of your head, it's a possibility but you do your job as safe as you possibly can those risks," said Corporal Bryan Weatherbee, from the Kennewick Police Department.
The event happens this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2:00p.m. at Columbia Park. There will be food , speakers and many leaders from the community.
