WENATCHEE, Wash. (AP) - A large part of Wenatchee was without power for more than an hour after a raccoon disrupted breakers in a transformer at a Chelan County PUD power substation.
PUD spokesman Steve Lachowicz says the outage was not long enough to cause refrigeration problems but may have inconvenienced some businesses.
Lachowicz says about 2,000 residential customers and 800 nonresidential customers were affected on Friday night and early Saturday. He says the power was restored from other substations to parts of the outage area at different times, with all of the area restored by 12:27 a.m. Saturday. The outage began at 11:11 p.m. on Friday.
Lachowicz says the raccoon died from electrical shock and was found by PUD personnel at the Wenatchee Substation transformer.
