YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Yakima Dive Club has been diving in and cleaning out lakes in Yakima for the last twenty-years. This year, at Rotary Lake, they had help from the police athletic club and the West Valley High School Dive Club.
It's a chance for young divers to get some practice in the water and learn something about community service.
"What we're trying to do is get people together and just show Yakima that you know with a little effort we can clean up Yakima and make it better," said Dennis Sperry, of the Yakima Dive Club.
Divers went down to the bottom of the lake to pick up the garbage while boaters waited at the top to take the trash to shore.
They also had volunteers picking up trash on the land surrounding the pond.
