RICHLAND, Wash.-- Post office staff did more than just deliver mail on Saturday. They collected food from several neighborhoods and brought them back to the post office.
This is the nation's largest single day food drive. The food is going to food banks in the Tri-Cities.
Post office staff were pulling in with trunks full of food at the Richland post office. We caught up with one postman who says the Tri-Cities is known for being a generous community.
"A family of carriers are out running around with their pick-up trucks, picking up from the carriers, so they're trying to get it all," said this Richland Postman.
More than 10,000 cities across the country participated in the food drive.
