More People Riding the Bus in the Tri-Cities

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Ben Franklin Transit says just last month they saw the number of people riding the bus go up by 20%.

The number of people car pooling on Vanpools is also up, by 41% from last year. BFT staff says they know this increase in riders is mostly due to high gas prices. They're glad they can help reduce the pain at the pump.

"It's a lot of fun to have somebody come in the lobby at Three Rivers Transit Center for the first time and say, you know I'm not paying this for the gas, how much does it cost for a bus pass, and how do I learn how to ride the bus," said Christy Watts, with Ben Franklin Transit.

And if you also want to start riding the bus, and need the details. There are two quick ways to find out. You can call BFT at 735-5100. They have six costumer service representatives, and two of them speak Spanish.
