KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Even though you signed up for the Do Not Call List, you may still be getting calls from political organizations, charities, or people conducting surveys.
Political calls are something many people are concerned about during this election year. The law varies in different states. For example, in Oregon, political organizations cannot use automated dialing systems, but can still have a live person dial your number and talk to you. Here in Washington, you can get both automated or live calls from a political group, even if you're on the federal Do Not Call List.
However, that list still does protect you from most telemarketing calls. If you want to sign up, call 1- 888- 382- 1222 or go to www.donotcall.gov.
