KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Watch out for pedestrians! The Kennewick Police Traffic Team was at the corner of Columbia Center Boulevard and Deschutes today.
They were making sure cars turning at the intersection waited until people in crosswalks were completely out of their lane. They had an undercover officer continually crossing the street, waiting for someone to violate his right-away.
Sgt. Ken Lattin says, "Cars are just barely letting you get by and they're trying to squeeze by you when they're making their turn. It's a violation."
KNDU was only there for 20 minutes but officers pulled over half a dozen people in that time. They say they hope today's crackdown reduces the danger to pedestrians in the future.
