KENNEWICK, Wash.-- It was great weather for outdoor activities on Saturday. Kids and parents came out to the Benton County Fairgrounds for the 2008 Youth Outdoor Adventure Expo.
Kids got the chance to learn some skills for the outdoors this Summer. Favorite activities included fishing and kayaking. There was also a small aquarium.
For many young ones this was their first time trying out some of these outdoor sports. For this young girl kayaking is not as easy as it looks.
"Because you have to move your arms at the same time," said Skyler Hammack, who was kayaking for the first time.
"Catching the fish, it was ok to let it go, because I'm not allowed to keep the fish," said Juliana Bayuk, who was fishing for the first time.
The expo was put together by the state Department of Fish and Wildlife. They say many young animals will be out and about this Memorial Day weekend.
If you're planning to be outdoors, they want to make sure you keep picnic food out of reach for animals, and camp only in designated areas.
