TAMPICO, Wash. -- The Naches river isn't the only place where flooding is a concern. Residents near South Fork Road in Yakima County are keeping a close watch on Ahtanum Creek. The creek is normally about five-feet wide and a foot deep. Right now it's sitting at about six-feet deep and rising.
One family we spoke to said they've been living there four years and have never seen the creek nearly this high.
"It usually just trickles down over there. This is actually part of our yard. Over there there's a swimming hole for the kids to play in which is completely gone," said Jennine Frisbie.
The Frisbies say in the flood of '96 the water came all the way to the house and destroyed a big portion of the deck. They have been working on fixing it since they moved in and are hoping the water doesn't destroy what's left of it.
