SELAH, Wash. -- In Kittitas County, State-Route 821 was shut down for the "Your Canyon For a Day Bike Tour". The Yakima County Sheriff's Office hosted the event to help raise money for their Crime Stoppers program.
The program relies solely on donations and fundraisers to help raise money for the rewards they offer in solving crime cases.
Registration was 25-dollars to take the 35-mile round trip through the Yakima River Canyon. Event planners say they had almost 800 registered riders.
"We're getting a lot more locals. We're better known now. It's one of the best rides in the state. We hear it's one of the premiere rides. We staff it well and it's just exciting and we expect maybe even a thousand next year," said Michael Peterson of Crime Stoppers.
