Public Hearing Thursday on Franklin County Redistricting Plan
PASCO, Wash. - Franklin County Commissioners will hear from the public Thursday on a redistricting plan that would change district boundaries.
Changing boundaries means homeowners could soon have different representation from county commissioners. If the commissioners are going to change boundaries, some homeowners want them to do it before the upcoming elections so they know who will represent them in the future.
The districts are changing because three districts have grown at different rates. District three now has nearly twice as many residents as district one and two. State law says commission districts are supposed to be similar in population so each is equally represented.
There's a public hearing Thursday May 22nd at the Franklin County Courthouse in pasco at 4:00 p.m.
Commissioners will then meet on Thursday May 29th to vote for or against the plan.
