KENNEWICK, Wash.-- A family owned barber shop in the Tri-cities is finding ways to keep up the spirit of Memorial Day.
MenZone in Kennewick will donate 100% of the money they make on Memorial Day to Operation Thank You. Operation Thank You is a Tri-City charity dedicated to honoring military men and women who have served or are currently serving our country.
Volunteers say they're glad they can count on the community to make this holiday more special.
"It cost $10.95 a box, so all the money we raise is a great help for postage, last year we spent about $13,000 on just postage for the troops, the more help we get the more we can help them, the more packages we can send," said Jeanette Yarger, a volunteer with Operation Thank You.
Operation Thank You volunteers also say recruiting officers will be taking cash donations or care package items, including CDs, DVDs, toiletrie items and even thank you cards to send to soldiers in Iraq.
