KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Parents and kids came out to the Take 25 special event at Columbia Park on Sunday. Kennewick police hosted the event in honor of NJational Missing Children's Day.
Police are asking parents to take at least 25 minutes of their day to talk about child safety. Today members of the Citizens Helping In Police Services or CHIPS, helped parents and kids fill out a child ID card and get fingerprint records for every child.
We talked to one mother who took advantage of this service.
"If anything was to happen to Broc, we would have his fingerprints on record, and hopefully we'll never need it, if we do it would be nice to be able to give it to officers to help," said Denise Rowe, a mother who attended the event.
These fingerprint records and child identification cards, also include the child's medical information. Police say if you already have one filled out, put it in a safe and secure place. These forms are free to the public.
