YAKIMA, Wash.- The colors red, white and blue represent our freedom, but our freedom didn't come without a price- the price of lost lives. Our veterans fought for that right and today men and woman honored our veterans at the Tahoma Memorial Service.
Speakers at the service remembered the veterans who have passed away and those who are still with us. Doug Reid, a Vietnam veteran, says he survived the war to spread the message of the veterans who are not here.
"You wonder why me and why are they still there? It's because I'm supposed to make sure they aren't forgotten," said Doug Reid.
And today our veterans were not forgotten. Many expressed their gratitude through tears. One woman says the least she can do is to honor the veterans in her family and the ones she has never known.
"Thank you, thank you and God bless you all," said Julie Sellberg.
It was an emotional day for many but a day of remembrance for those who we must never forget.
