KENNEWICK, Wash.--  Skip Novakovich announced he's running for Shirley Hankins' seat in the House of Representatives. The former President of the Downtown Kennewick and Columbia
Drive Association decided to run for the 8th district seat after Hankins announced her retirement. He's running as a Republican.

Novakovich says he has only one special interest. He says, "My special interest group is the people of the 8th district and I want to represent them.   I want this job.   It's something I've always done all my life.   I've done similar things all my life, bring people together with resources and make better things happen. "

Novakovich says he wants to focus on healthcare, education, and small businesses.  Also, as a retired Army Reserve Lieutenant Colonel, he wants to focus on veterans' affairs.
