KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick Lions baseball team calls themselves the "East Kennewick Uglies." They can also call themselves champions! The Uglies showed off their pretty state trophy Wednesday at a school assembly. Chants of "E-K-U" rained down on the scrappy state champs. The underdog Lions beat Kelso Saturday in Seattle 24-12 to capture the school's first title. Plenty of fans were on hand Wednesday, and all season long. "We had great fans," said coach A.J. Marquardt. "Our student section at football, basketball, and baseball games are probably the best in the league and they were huge for us at Safeco. It's all still sinking in and it was quite a ride."
