Mariners Finally Beat Tigers

Posted: Updated:

SEATTLE (AP) - Felix Hernandez allowed just two hits in seven innings, and Kenji Johjima likely scored the most unusual run of his career with a steal of home in the Seattle Mariners' 5-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday.

Johjima added a two-run single in the first, backing a superb performance on the mound from Hernandez, who became the first Seattle pitchers to quiet the Tigers' bats in their five meetings this season.

In four losses to Detroit entering Saturday, the Mariners had surrendered 37 runs.
