First Ever Bilingual Health Fare

YAKIMA, Wash. -- Memorial Hospital and Fiesta Foods teamed up today to host the first ever bilingual health fare.

People started lining up at 10 a.m. Saturday morning for Fiesta de Salud. Health care professionals were on hand to give free health screenings and information on how to live a healthy lifestyle.

For many people in the Latino community, finding the proper health care is a major problem. At today's fare a number of people discovered they are at high risk for developing certain diseases.

"One of the two diseases that are most common in the Latino community are cardiovascular problems and diabetes. These are two silent killers in our community," said Memorial Hospital's Lily Gonzalez

Event planners hope to continue hosting bilingual fares like this at least twice a year.
