Washington - The new cell phone driving law is going into effect in less than a month and now may be the time to look for options to become hands free behind the wheel.
Washington state actually has two cell phone driving related laws. The first is the no texting while driving law that went into effect in January.
Starting July 1st the new hands free cell phone driving law will be enforced. It will not be what is called a "primary" offense which means police won't be looking primarily for people holding phones to their ear while driving.
Drivers will have to be pulled over for another violation before being ticketed.
