Valley lifts Spokane River restrictions

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - With water levels on the Spokane River receding and the successful placement of an emergency barrier at Upriver Dam, the Spokane Valley City Council has lifted its ban on river access in Spokane Valley.

Although river levels in Spokane Valley are dropping, the National Weather Service indicates waters are still near flood stage Friday morning. People using the river are reminded that high water levels and swift currents call for extra caution when in or near the river.

City officials also remind people that the use of a personal flotation devices are required by all persons while on moving water.
