YAKIMA, Wash. -- Volunteers gathered at State Fair Park in Yakima today to help landscape the grounds around the Modern Living building.
The volunteer hours are being used to secure a 48-thousand-dollar grant to help restore the historic building.
It was built in 1937 and it's now beginning to look rundown. The building is used year-round for meetings for many organizations. It's also been the site of many weddings.
Central Washington Fair Association board members say this is a much needed renovation.
"This was the original state fair grounds in 1892, so we want to preserve that ambiance of the old state fair," said Board President Greg Stewart.
