Salmonella Outbreak Reaches Washington

Posted: Updated:

WASHINGTON -- The national salmonella outbreak hit closer to home. Today health officials confirmed that there have been cases here in Washington.

Sixteen states have been affected by this salmonella outbreak. Most cases are from large, raw, red tomatoes.

Grocery stores and supermarkets in the southwest began taking tomatoes off the shelves after forty people in New Mexico got sick.

Health officials haven't been able to pinpoint the source of the tomatoes.
