KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Two Tri-Cities groups are joining forces to help smokers kick the habit through a seminar. It's happening on Wednesday and it's called Tobacco Cessation 101.
It's being put together by the Tri-Cities Cancer Center and Tobacco Free of Benton and Franklin Counties. Staff at the Cancer Center say research shows a series of classes to try to quit smoking don't really work.
So instead this is only an hour and a half program. It will be offered on the second Wednesday of every month. The Cancer Center says if you're thinking about quitting this may be a good place to start.
"We identify smoking triggers or tobacco triggers, and they can come back as many times as they want because each time that you try to quit, you're one step closer to succeeding," said Cindy Miller, with the Tri-Cities Cancer Center
Miller also says they're giving away more than just tips, you can also get patches and gum there.
The free seminar is happening on Wednesday June 11th, at the Tri-Cities Cancer Center, inside the Wellness Center. It goes from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. To RSVP call 737-3420.
