Snow fall in Washington and Oregon passes.

Posted: Updated:
Believe it or not this is the second coldest spring in Washington since 1917. Snow was sticking to I-90 this morning making the drive through the pass dangerous.

Throughout the day there was slush on the freeway with snow mixed with rain falling.

In some places more than five inches of snow fell requiring semi-trucks to chain-up their tires on Snoqualmie Pass.

It's making the drive through the pass very difficult. Tow truck drivers were up all night and have been busy all day helping drivers who did not expect to run into to this mess.

"Well I thought I'd get to sleep all night but we did end up with one spin out and he was chained and everything. I couldn't  believe it, not for this time of year," said Dennis Todd, tow truck driver.

The DOT says this is the first time in 30 years that snowplows have been used in June on Steven's Pass causing highway crews to delay mowing grass to return to mountain passes with snowplows.
