The Yakima Hygiene Center for Homeless People Needs Your Help
YAKIMA, Wash -- The Yakima Hygiene Center for Homeless People needs your help.
The Hygiene Center is offering free haircuts to the homeless starting this week but they still need more volunteers. Right now they only have enough volunteers for thirty minutes worth of cutting one day a week. Also, they are only offering haircuts for men because they do not have enough volunteers to cut longer hair.
The Hygiene Center says it doesn't take up much of your time to volunteer and it is a great way to become involved with the Yakima community.
"They [volunteers] are actually going to receive much more than they give. And actually seeing a person after they go and shower and get some new clothes and then talk to somebody... and just seeing how much better they feel," says Steve Gaulke an employee of the Hygiene Center.
