Across the nation about 50 percent of foster youth will not get a high school diploma.

RICHLAND, Wa-- Across the nation about 50 percent of foster youth who turn 18 will end their time in the foster care without a high school diploma.

There are special graduation ceremonies going on around the state to congratulate students who get a diploma.

At Cathedral of Joy in Richland there had celebration for graduates in the Tri-Cities.

It can be a lot harder for a kid in the Foster System to get there diplomas. Some of them have grown up moving from home to home and changing schools.
