Yakima Retail Sales are Up because of Your Stimulus Check
YAKIMA, Wash - Retail sales have gone up by the largest amount in six months. The Commerce Department says retail sales have gone up by one percent, which is the biggest increase since November. The increase was twice as much as what economists predicted.
The increase is due to people spending their stimulus checks.
Yakima stores say they have seen up to a 60% increase. One store owner says he sees about three times as many customers than last month.
"We are up 21% which is better than we were doing last year because we are up twice as much," said Nichlos Espioza owner of Journeys.
