SEATTLE (AP) - Jesus Flores and Ronnie Belliard had two-run hits during a six-run second inning and the Washington Nationals held on for a 7-6 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Friday night.
Flores hit a two-run double and Belliard had a two-run single as the Nationals roughed up knuckleballer R.A. Dickey for six runs, five hits and two walks in the second.
Dickey (1-2) gave up eight hits and seven runs in 1 2-3 innings. He threw 52 pitches in his second start of the season and first since a 5-4 loss April 18 at the Los Angeles Angels.
Dickey replaced the struggling Miguel Batista in the rotation. Dickey had allowed one run in 18 innings in his last five relief appearances.
Washington starter Shawn Hill (1-3) allowed 12 hits in five innings, but left with a 7-5 lead.
Jon Rauch pitched the ninth for his 14th save in 17 opportunities.
