HERMISTON, Wash.-- Roxana Mata now faces four counts of Second Degree Sex Abuse and eight counts of Third Degree Rape in Oregon.
The District Attorney in Umatilla County says on June 4th, two victims came forward and told Hermiston police about the incidents. Both victims are males in their teens.
Mata was a teaching assistant at Armand Larive Middle School in Hermiston. She's now been put on administrative leave.
The District Attorney says just last week the case was brought up to a grand jury, where the two victims testified, and these felony charges were filed.
"The children revealed more instances of the abuse and of the rapes, so it's the same two children victims, and it happened this many times," said Dean Gushwa, Umatilla County District Attorney.
According to staff at the school Mata worked there for less than a year. They also say the 23-year-old woman is married and has children.
The District Attorney says none of the abuse reported happened on school grounds. Mata's bail was raised from $50,000 to $100,000. She is at the Umatilla County Jail, awaiting trial on July 31st.
