Fire Burns A Quarter Of An Acre Of Land and Damages A Mobile Home In Finley
FINLEY, Wash. - Monday night there was an investigation into a brush fire that destroyed part of a mobile home in Finley.
Firefighters with Benton County Fire District # 1 responded to Tierney Road just after five Monday tonight.
The chief told KNDU the mobile home is abandoned and the fire actually started in near by sagebrush.
Firefighters said about a quarter of an acre of land burned and a Russian Olive Tree.
Monday night investigators did not know how the fire started.
The Chief says the slow start to fire season is taking some people by surprise. Benton County Fire District # 1 Bob Gear said, "It's certainly been an interesting fire season because last week it wasn't here, or just got started, but things have really been dry. Normally by this time of year it's usually a good two or three weeks into some fairly constant fire activity. "
Neighbors called emergency crews when the saw the flames.
Gear said the neighbors' lawns surrounding the abandoned mobile home were green and helped keep the fire under control.
