PASCO, Wash.-- A semi-truck carrying 9,500 gallons of diesel fuel rolled over just east of Pasco on US-12. The Connell Oil truck was turning a corner on Tank Farm Road, but the exact cause of the accident is not known as of Tuesday night.
After rolling over, the truck ended up on its side in a drainage ditch and fuel began pouring out. Franklin County firefighters aren't sure exactly how much diesel spilled out of the truck, but believe it was less than half of what was in the tank. Firefighters built small dams in the ditch to stop the fuel from spilling further and clean up crews were on the scene pumping it out of the ditch and overturned tanker.
Les Litzenberger, a Franklin County Fire Chief, said, "It was all contained to the ditch along here, which is all sand, and we're a long ways away from any water supplies or anything like that."
Franklin County Sheriffs tell us the driver of the truck was Joe Stredwick. He was taken to Kennewick General Hospital and as of Tuesday night he is in stable condition.
