SNOHOMISH, Wash. (AP) - The Snohomish County sheriff's office says a 14-year-old Snohomish boy who came home with D's and F's on his report card was beaten with a stick until he bled.

Deputies were called Thursday to a home where a neighbor had taken in the boy. His buttocks were bloodied and bruised and he had red marks on his back. He also said he thought his left arm was broken and he that had been choked. He was taken to a hospital.

Deputies found the stick apparently used in beating the boy. It had broken into three pieces. Deputies arrested his mother's boyfriend.

The 41-year-old man said "the spanking was harsh" and he regretted it. He was jailed in Everett for investigation of domestic violence.
