Church Holds Services in Amphitheater to Enjoy the Serenity of Being Outdoors
KENNEWICK, Wash-- Calvary Church members enjoy the serenity of being outdoors and decided to move their services outside.
Church members say they built the amphitheater using left over dirt from construction on their parking lot. It took about two months to build and they've been doing outdoor services for the last three weeks.
The amphitheater can be seen from Clearwater Ave, south of Columbia Blvd. Around 900 members came to the church with their own blankets and lawn chairs to sit on. They say they want to plant more trees around the theater.
"You know most of our people just really love it and part of the reason is we've done a monthly outdoor service in columbia park," said Steve Whinery, Senior Pastor of Calvary Church.
Pastor Whinery has been with Calvary Church for eighteen years and says he got the idea from another pastor-friend in Oregon whose been doing amphitheater services for years.
