Garfield Elementary in Toppenish is looking for reading/math tutors.  Volunteers will help 1st - 4th grade children improve their reading and math skills.  Volunteers are needed Mondays - Thursdays 8am - 12:30pm from July 7th - August 7th.  Volunteers  need to be reliable; enjoy working with children; and have basic math and reading skills.  All potential volunteers must fill out an application and have a criminal background check done by the agency before volunteering.  For more information on this volunteer opportunity, please call Sirena Phillips 509-574-1933.

SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisors) is looking for volunteers to assist consumers about their rights and options regarding prescription drug access, health insurance and access to healthcare so they can make informed decisions. Hours are flexible and can be done at home. Basic training lasts 2-3 days with update trainings monthly.  The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is looking for a volunteer to help with their ink cartridge recycling.  Volunteers would be responsible for calling community partners; picking up and delivering supplies; packing, labeling and shipping cartridges. The Mentoring Children of Incarcerated Parents (MCIP) program is looking for dedicated volunteers to support, guide and be a friend to a young person, affected by parental incarceration, for a minimum of 4 hours a month for at least one year. Volunteers must be non-judgmental and be a willing listener.  They need to serve as a positive role model and friend to a child dealing with complex challenges.  Must attend MCIP group activities and events.  Also must provide feedback to program staff regularly.  Mentors must be 19 years old.
